  • Who can download digital titles?

    • Anyone with a Chilton County Library card in good standing can download digital titles. A library card in good standing has less than $5.00 in fines and is current.

  • How can I search eBooks and downloadable audiobooks?

    • On your device, you can search all our digital titles using the libby app. On a computer or a web browser, you can see all our titles, both physical and digital, by searching our regular library database. Type in the title/author/keyword that you're looking for; if there are any results, you'll see two tabs: "Catalog" = physical materials located in a library building, and "Digital" = digital titles. This allows you to see all the titles on a subject that the library offers.

  • How can I reserve digital titles?

    • You can reserve titles in two ways:

      • On the library catalog (online), select the title you want, then click "Go to Overdrive" at the top right hand corner of the text box. This will take you to the digital catalog. Click "Place a Hold;" you'll have to sign in with your library card. The title will automatically download to your libby app when it becomes available.

      • In the libby app,

        • tap Library.

        • search for the title you want to reserve.

        • Tap "place a hold," then tap "Place Hold."

        • Tap "back to library" from the top of the screen to return to the library digital catalog.

  • Will I receive fines for overdue titles?

    • You should not receive fines for overdue digital titles. When your loan period is up, the title should disappear from your account automatically. You can choose to return titles early if you wish.

  • It says there's a problem with my account. Why can't I download any titles?

    • Just like our regular titles in the library, you won't be able to check out any digital titles if you owe a fine of $5.00 or more, or if your library card has expired. Please call or visit the library to resolve these issues.

  • Why can't I read this title right now?

    • Just like a regular library book, only one person can access a digital title at a time. You can always add yourself to the wait list for an item, and it will download automatically when it's ready.
